I’m always awestruck by the private moments that I get to photograph. The small intimate glances and shared laughs never leave any doubt that my clients are crazy about each other. Nikki and Mark, visiting from Boston, are such a couple. Despite being stuck in New Orleans as Katrina hit, Nikki wanted to celebrate her love of the city and her excitement of starting a new family with ex-rocker and all-around cool guy Mark with a winter session. Best of luck in the months to come to this adorable couple as they await the child they affectionately call “Niblet.”
Braving the brisk winter weather of New Orleans, Lauren and David ducked into the iconic Napoleon House in the French Quarter, finding a cozy corner, warming up with an Irish Coffee and taking in the ambience of a room filled with arias playing on the sound system. The worn walls, winding staircases and lush courtyards made the perfect backdrop for this madly in love couple visiting from the Bay Area for the Mardi Gras Marathon. Just a few days before Valentine’s Day, romance abounded in the hidden corners of the Vieux Carre for the perfect engagement session!
Holding your newborn in your arms is an awe inspiring experience. When Lucy’s mom exclaimed that she never thought she could love something this much, I seconded the thought, something I think all parents realize when they finally meet their child. At just 3-weeks-old, Lucy was a bundle of sleepiness wrapped in the warmth of her mother’s arms. Welcome to the world little Lucy.
I love photographing my daughter being my daughter. She’s a big fan of wearing tutus, holding impromptu tea parties, and her devotion to our dog Stella is endless amusement. I try to keep my camera close so I don’t miss these adorable, hilarious and tremendously sweet moments. I also can’t express how much fun it is to do an impromptu photo session with your child. It’s a great way to spend a little one-to-one time. Here’s the trick to getting a good picture of your child no matter what camera you are using. Find a big window with nice light and an empty wall. Sit your child down on a chair right next to the window, face them so the light is hitting them from the side and the empty wall is behind them. Then tell them to make silly faces. Take lots of pictures. If you’re using a digital camera, you can erase what you don’t like. And don’t worry about getting everything just right. Sometimes it’s the mistakes that make the best pictures. Send me a link to the pictures you create. I’d love to see them.
These are great Jen!! OK, where did you get that dress?????
Thanks Pam. The dress is from TJ Max. It comes with a matching small dress for a baby doll. I hate falling for the marketing, but she loves putting the small dress on teddy bears.
I love the dress too!
Barrett decided to be a one-of-a-kind Christmas present for his parents by arriving 4-weeks early. Their first day home with him was Christmas morning, and after a few adjustments, he is growing and happy in his new home. As is Bella, an adorable yellow lab, who has no idea the amount of food that will be dropped by Barrett when he gets a little older. Barrett was the last of three newborns I photographed last weekend. The earlier two were a little more reluctant to go to sleep, whereas Barrett didn’t want to open his eyes for more than a quick “yeah, I see you.” And then back to bed. Sweet dreams Barrett.
LOVE THESE PICS!! Sooooo beautiful!!! They capture your new family PERFECTLY! I can’t wait to see the rest.
I had the honor of photographing Lucy’s big brother Pauly, now 2, when he was a newborn. It’s amazing to see how that cute little boy has grown and his reaction to a new baby sister. Pauly was more than happy to kiss his new little sister over and over. And use her forehead as a walking path for his toy dinosaur. Welcome to the world little Lucy.
Love the photos!!! Thanks so much Jennifer!
These are absolutely beautiful!
On a recent crisp January evening, Elizabeth, Adam, friends and family gathered at the Arthur Roger Gallery to say their vows. They then proceeded to The Foundry for a charming party in inviting surroundings, following the occasional checkup on the Saints playoff game. The urbane venues fit the couple, who were married by a friend reading the ceremony’s script from an iPad. The ceremony also included a reading of Love Me Tender in honor of the date, which also was Elvis Presley’s birthday. The favors included drink cozies with whimsical bride and groom voodoo dolls printed on the front, the same drawing they used for their “save the date” invitations. The stunning bride danced a spirited dance with her father and ended the party as every bride should, with her shoes off and a piece of cake close at hand. Best of luck to Adam and Elizabeth, who seem to match each other in wit, charm and happiness.
Sarah & Michael,
What a great wedding that must have been! The bride is gorgeous and the whole family is precious!
Many thanks for sharing pictures with me. I love the fact that it was so unique. A wedding that was all their own and reflected who they are and what was important to them!
I love it. You all look so happy! What an event to remember!
Much love to you all!
Lucy
Jennifer–
You did such a wonderful job on the photos! Thank you so much.
I love the pictures of the bride with her dad! So pretty!
Congrats to Elizabeth and Adam!
Little sister Mignon has been doing her best to remind her parents that 4-week-old Miles is just borrowing some of her favorite baby things – toys, chairs, mom. And her mom and dad are taking it all in stride as they strike the perfect balance between feeling like they are going insane and overjoyed with love and happiness with the second addition to their family. Miles, I think you might be invited to some fun big-sister tea parties in the future. And Mignon, I have it under the best authority that your dad loves!!! the barbie princess movie. I would see if he wants to watch it again.
Love the pics!!!
These are so sweet and special! Love the ones with Mom and Dad.
