Late afternoon light, the kind that makes everything look a little softer. The children`s fountain at Audubon Park doing what it does best — turning into pure joy the second bare feet hit the water.
Levi splashing, laughing, running back to mom and dad for a hug before diving in for round two. There`s a kind of joy that only shows up in summer — barefoot, sun-soaked, completely unbothered — and you can`t fake it in any other season.

Some summers just beg to be chased.
The kind with wet hair and bare feet, a dog who`d rather not be in the pool but ends up there anyway, and Benji and Claire hugging you a little harder when they think you`re not looking.
I keep coming back to these sessions because childhood moves so fast you almost can`t catch it — but a camera can. And a few years from now, this is exactly the summer Benji and Claire will want back.

We got lucky with the weather on this one — snuck in between rain drops and beat the heat, which in New Orleans summer feels like winning the lottery.
This family of four brought two little boys to Longue Vue Gardens and the energy was everything. That specific brand of boy chaos — running, chasing— against all that green space to soak it up. Longue Vue gives kids room to actually be kids, and I love it for that.
Cloudy skies made for the softest light too. Sometimes the gray days are the best days. Thank you Lewis and George for being so fun to chase around with a camera!

Junie and Ruthie didn’t pose. They ran. They splashed. They launched themselves at mom and dad like it was the most natural thing in the world, because to them, it is.
There’s a certain magic to a summer night at Audubon Park—the kind where the heat finally softens, the light goes gold, and two little girls decide the children’s fountain is the best place on earth. And that’s exactly what we were after—not perfect, not still, but real. The squeals, the soaked dresses, the way they kept circling back to their parents like little planets in orbit.
This is what being in the moment looks like. This is what being loved looks like. Years from now, these are the photos that will bring it all rushing back—the warm night, the laughter, the feeling of being small and safe and so completely adored.
